Robert Tonner Revives Evangeline Ghastly and Ellowyne

I was pondering whether or not to put a question mark at the end of the title for this post. This is a surprising announcement by the Tonner Doll Co. I thought the TDC was finished and had been replaced by Phynn & Aero.

Released yesterday was one gorgeous Evangeline, dressed all in red and two Ellowynes.

Drop Dead Red Evangeline @ $235. Limited Edition 175.
Her head is a new mold and she has a new body as well.  I think she's pretty fabulous looking.

Two Ellowyne Wilde dressed dolls made a debut.

Ruffled Up Ellowyne @ $225. LE 150

Wistful Rose Ellowyne @ $225. LE 150

She has a newly molded head and the RTB101 body. I have no idea what that body looks like.

Some other dolls I found on the Phyn & Aero website:

Nancy Ann Abbott, UFDC Meal Event Exclusive Companion $225 LE 75
Nancy Ann Abbott was, in real life, an actress and dress designer. She started the Nancy Ann Storybood Company in 1938 and was extremely successful.

American Beauty $235. LE200
This is Annora. I'd like to see her close up.  She, too, is on the RTB-101.
The dress does not impress me. It's been done over and over. The doll's face looks pretty.

Apparently body sizes have been standardized. That's pretty great for those collectors who like to switch clothes between dolls but it's a major change. Evangeline is now 16.5" tall.

RTB-101 Body Measurements:
Bust - 7 1/4
Waist - 4 7/8"
Hip at Top Joint - 6 1/2"
Hip at widest part of thigh - 7 1/4"
Waist to Knee - 5 1/8"
Waist to Floor - 10 3/8"
Divot to Waist - 3 1/4"
Shoulder Across Back - 3 1/4"
Arm to Wrist Joint - 5"
Overall - 16 1/2"

13" Agatha Primrose from Tonner Doll

New Agatha Primrose Line

Here is the introductory paragraph about Agatha Primrose from the Tonner website:

From the artistic to the technological, from fashion to fiction to science, Agatha Primrose loves the experiences that her life brings. Whether obsessing over Dr. Who’s TARDIS, Hermione’s Time Turner or Doc’s DeLorean, figuring out the recipe for Katniss’ District Four bread, and of course, trying to find a believable female character for her gaming fixation, Agatha is on a fact-finding mission and it’s all for her personal knowledge. You’ll find her wearing the perfect handmade costume at Comic-Con, testing the latest gadgets at the tech store and nose deep in books with places to which she hopes to travel.

She comes across as a more articulated young Marley who is on the nerdy side.  I do not care for the open mouth. She's been given a bust and fashion feet but wears very child-like clothing.  I guess I'm trying to figure out how old she is.

I love the outfit but something is off here. She's has a gaming fixation? Seriously?

So I like the doll and her outfits but the back story sucks.

Remember this Marley? I loved her hair and face and dress. How does the new one compare?

Another similar looking Marley.

It's all a little too obvious.

An outfit that would have been improved if the doll had flat feet, tighter pants and tall boots.

If you click on the blonde basic, it says "sold out."  I believe it's just not in stock yet.

Tonner Doll 2015 Holiday Collection

Tonner released their Holiday 2015 Collection with De De Denton and several other dolls. De De is a new character whose back story is that she is an heiress to the Denton chewing gum fortune with her own reality show. She's related to Deeanna Denton and big-boned women run in the family. They need to switch to sugarless gum.

She's been given the 17" Athletic body and from here, she's got a lot of eye makeup, too.
Above from left to right, the first two are outfits only and are priced at $89.99 each. The rest are dressed dolls priced at $174.99-$179.99 except for the last one that is $184.99.

Made in the shade is a dressed doll retailing at $159.99.  What is the CW-1 head sculpt?

Two new "Basic Dixies" in the Rockabilly collection sport bangs that are a big fail. Wigs work better for hairdos with bangs.  $99.99 each

Bombshell Batwoman makes an appearance in the DC Stars line. She has a beautiful sculpt and her hair color is stunning but the costume is odd.  $179.99

Collectors flipped out over the Wilde Imagination chaise from a recent convention and now we are offered the same chaise in three different fabrics and "wood" finishes.  $124.99. The Ellowyne chaise is a very good size for all 16" dolls.

 Op Ed:
I must say that I am not a fan of Tonner's new website at all. There is too much automation (zooming,  fading and highlighting) for my taste. The archive is disorganized. One used to be able to search by year and category.  The pictures are too large initially and one has to keep going to the next page and the next page and on and on.
It's a sophisticated website but it's not very collector friendly.

Super Lashes Minimized

I've redressed Bombshell and trimmed her lashes. She's gorgeous! The painted lowers could use improvement but, for now, they stay.

She is wearing a gown from Tonner's Dick Tracy line, called "True to Your Heart." It was available as an outfit only. (2008) The character figure, Tess Trueheart, was never available as shown.

Tonner's Bombshell - Supergirl

Of course I needed another doll. Silly question.

We picked up "Bombshell Supergirl" from my dealer this morning and she doesn't disappoint! This doll is gorgeous. I purchased her for the love of the sculpt so the costume is going to be sold.

These are iPhone photos shot on my kitchen table.
Is there something strange about the S on her belt?

She's got a nice curly, well-gelled hairstyle that will stand up to redressing.

The applied eyelashes are strange. Usually I have to push lashes upward so they don't cover a doll's eyes. In this case, they were applied so they touch her brow. I'll have to fix them.

I do have an issue with these gauntlets. There's nothing wrong with the fit but the part where the hands come out have unfinished edges. Sure it adds manufacturing time to finish edges but this is not OK. They're a bit frayed already and will continue to fray if handled. I'd advise any collector to use a product like Fray Check to seal the edges. I keep it handy all the time in my sewing room. Don't squeeze it directly onto the fabric. Put a few drops on a non-porous dish and dip your fingertip into it. Use your fingertip to skim the edges of the fabric with the product. It dries clear but if you glop it on, the results will not be good.

The "fit" body is the same as Tyler's but with shapely arms. She'll be able to wear all of Tyler's fashions.

I've been in love with my first Supergirl, "Phantom Zone," (Tonner Doll Exclusive at San Diego Comicon, 2008) from the day I got her and I just could not pass up this new one who uses the same sculpt.

2014 Déjà Vu Summer Release

Tonner's Deja Vu doll line has exploded onto the summer doll scene with thirteen items. There are six dressed dolls, six basic dolls and one fashion. The dressed dolls are priced from $169.99 to $199.99.

The basics range from $99.99 to $149.99. The separate fashion is $199.99.

The separate fashion is $119.99.

My personal favorites among the dressed dolls are those styled in the Roaring 20's looks. I like the short-haired basic dolls and the doll in the red bathing suit, but not enough to buy.

I don't know when the following two Deja Vu were introduced but apparently the dressed doll on the left in purple is already sold out and she doesn't ship until 8/11! These dolls remind me so much of Tiny Kitty.

Not quite the same but the sheer coat over floral...

And the red one reminds me of another Tiny Kitty outfit.

Tonner Doll Company

After a while, they all start to look like each other.
Maybe I have deja vu.
