Jamieshow Demi-Couture Ginny

In a fit of "I need another doll" impulsivity, I ordered Demi-Couture Ginny (aka Ginnie.) She is a 12" resin ball-jointed doll.  The 12" Jamieshow BJDs made their debut appearance a few years ago but their face sculpts were not well received and they did not do well.

The three current offerings, Grace, Eshe and Ginny are 1/6 scale replicas of the full-sized Jamieshow dolls of the same name. Just like their larger counterparts, they come with a rooted wig cap and a bald wig cap. A small version of the Jamieshow doll stand is included as well.

These dolls went on sale for $191.99 recently. The sale ends at midnight on 1/11/14.
If you have Silkstone dolls, you have seen the prices skyrocket for regular releases. That made me think that this price was reasonable for a doll with joints that actually move in more than one direction. BTW Silkstone is resin.

Also available on sale is a special Grace doll, expressive hands and some shoes.

I've had one of these Demi bodies for a while and was using it with a Liz Taylor Silkstone head.

When I took Liz out of a showcase to photograph her with Ginny, I was dismayed to find that she had become very, very kicky in her hip joints. It was almost impossible to keep her upright for this photo so she is posing partially sitting. Her knees and arms are fine. I will have to wire her hip and upper legs to correct this issue.

In my photos of Ginny, she is wearing a wig that I had in my collection because her wig was frizzy and unkempt looking. I've heard that washing it out helps. It's either the fiber being used or it's being over-heated during styling. I've had this problem with every other non-bun/non-updo Jamieshow wig cap.  It happens with other manufacturer's dolls as well on occasion. Straight styles and updos are fine. It only happens when the fibers have been over-processed. As a photographer, I pay attention to the appearance of hair. It drives me crazy when I can't tame a wavy hairdo properly. There's curly and there's messed up.

Ginny is wearing Barbie (Louboutin) shoes just to illustrate that their foot size is almost exactly the same. Barbie's is a tiny bit smaller. FR2 shoes would be too large. Original FR shoes will fit as will  FR clothes from the second body. (That would be the first articulated body before they went to the first tall body. ) Of course there will be other clothes that fit depending upon their cut.

I recommend buying one or more of these demi dolls now while the price is right.

Introducing Madame Eshe from Angelic Dreamz

Angelic Dreamz revealed their spectacular new Jamieshow doll, Holiday 2011 Madame Eshe.  I will let the photos speak for themselves.

Madame Eshe $475. LE 50
Madame Eshe peers out with Royal Blue Eyes and pale skin tone, her Royal Highness has Golden Eyeshadow real eyelashes, upswept golden blonde hair with trailing curls down her back.  Her gown is de rigor, Red Silk satin in multiple layers with intricate gold details and lace cuffs.  An elaborate (and separate) bustle in crimson and gold stitching design adorn and support her massive gown.  Ruching, gold pearls and white lace adorn her elaborate gown.  Red Crock and Leather shoes.  Wig cap is rooted and interchangeable and comes with smooth cap for regular wigs as well.  She comes with her royal gold crown by Facets.

Click on the photograph (or here) to be magically transported to the AD website where you can see more pictures and get information on this stunning new doll.

_______

Integrity Toys announced the second W Club doll for W Club 2011 members. Actually it is three dolls which pleased many collectors. The collection is called Rock Fashion Wedding. The dolls are very attractive and edgy. I would prefer Erin without buck teeth but that can be easily repainted.

W Club members can order the collection for $330 plus shipping. If ordered separately, the total would be $360.

I will order the set not actually knowing if I will keep any part of it as I don't collect the NuFace dolls any longer. I don't have a problem with pre-order deposits, but the way things have been going with shipping delays, waiting 6 or more months for a pre-ordered doll has become the norm. Expected shipping is Spring 2012 — 4 to 6 months away. The required deposit is $75. per set of three dolls.

I like the lingerie and the filmy net skirt on Lillith. I see draping problems with the shorter skirt. It looks like there are folds that go horizontally out to the hips and an inverted pleat front and center.  That does not work at all.

Is the top of the net skirt made from the same material as the lingerie? I wonder if Erin's dress is also 2-piece? That would be cool. Her dress looks all black but the under layer is purple - the same color as Romain's scarf.

Here is my Photoshopped version of Erin's mouth.

I realize that some live models have a pouty-raised-upper-lip-thing going on but apparently it's difficult to translate to a doll. The 2011 Bergdorf Fashion Night Out doll had the same buck-tooth issue and it was for that reason I did not keep her in my collection. I like open mouth dolls as much as closed mouth dolls (I love Vanessa) but the teeth to lip ratio and proportion needs to work.

The male of the trio, Romain Perrin, is probably right up there with the best designed males they've ever done. One can only hope that the outfit fits as well as it looks like it does. He will be very, very popular.

Seen on Prego - Eshe

Adrian Cardozo posted this fabulous image of JAMIEshow St. Tropez Eshe.

Normally I wouldn't recommend lighting a doll from below unless she had fangs but in this case, it's working. It's almost as if she's looking into a fireplace.

Eshe's Turn in Front of the Camera

Here are a few straightforward pictures of Eshe modeling different wigs. I discovered that she can wear Avantguard's wigs which is great because I have lots of wigs for them.  I am dissatisfied with the curly wig that came with this doll. Just like Grace's wig, it's frizzy with hair going every which way. I did some post-processing on this image and it's still unsatisfactory.

I will definitely not be purchasing any more rooted wig caps.
Here she is in Grace's original wig. I washed and conditioned this wig twice to get rid of the crinkled, messy look. There is not much improvement.

The straight black wig cap had to be shampooed to remove the pomade-like dressing coating the fibers.
It looks good now.

This Joe Tai wig is definitely not for her. She's not a blonde.

Here are two Cheryl Wood wigs which are lovely on Eshe. These are hard cap hand made wigs.

Above you can see the bodysuit Eshe came with. She also came with shoes but they keep falling off so I tossed them aside.

I don't know if it's the crappy weather or what but I would be happier had I purchased only Grace. Eshe does not please me. Perhaps when I start redressing her I will warm up to her.  She does have gorgeous hands and luscious lips. In a future post I will review the joints and the posing.

Eshe and Grace

They said I couldn't wait until I had more time so here are my new Jamieshow dolls, Eshe and Grace. Point and Shoot pictures are so pointy and shooty. The dolls are gorgeous and I can foresee plenty of photo spam coming.

As previously posted, Eshe is the latest and an exclusive Jamieshow doll. Here are four pictures of note which I saw on Prego earlier this evening.

Doll Reader/Haute Doll Exclusive Produced by Angelic Dreamz

In cooperation with Angelic Dreamz, the Canandaigua, N.Y.-based manufacturer and retailer of the popular JAMIEShow fashion ball-jointed dolls, Doll Reader/Haute Doll introduces an exclusive resin fashion BJD, Eshe. This 16-inch (41-cm) articulated doll wears a form-fitting gold dress with puff sleeves, reminiscent of the Egyptian queen herself, gold metal filigree earrings and necklace, and an Egyptian queen's hat. Eshe comes with a head cap, and she has another wig that collectors can swap in to change her look completely. She comes with a certificate of authenticity that identifies her as a Haute Doll exclusive. Eshe is a limited edition of 50 worldwide.
Photos by George Gonzalez, Angelic Dreamz

Eshe will be available for sale exclusively through Doll Reader/Haute Doll for a limited number of readers. One of the best things about her, for those who like to play with their dolls (and who doesn't!), is that she will fit perfectly into clothing designed for other 16-inch fashion dolls, offering the potential for a whole range of new looks. Still, no matter how you dress her, Eshe's essence won't change.

She has a Middle Eastern look. She wears a stunning form-fitting gold dress with puff sleeves, gold metal filigree earrings and necklace, and an Egyptian queen's hat. She also carries a staff, giving her an even more regal bearing. Her platform shoes elevate her to an imposing presence suitable for Egyptian nobility. The resin doll comes with a head cap, and she has another wig that collectors can swap in to change her look completely.

Eshe, dressed doll. LE 50. $425. LE 50. Free shipping for US orders only. An additional shipping charge will be applied to all international orders. Please note, dolls are subject to a 6.25% sales tax when shipped to Massachusetts' residents/businesses. Click here to order.

Until June 1 you will need a password to access the Doll Reader store. Do I have one?
